BioWare games on PS? Here are three options on retail

BioWare studio is a legendary action RPG video game developer stationed in Canada. They are known throughout the industry for various critically acclaimed titles like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Origins among others. BioWare games always feature epic stories, deep world-building, amazing voice acting, engaging gameplay, and memorable soundtracks.

It might come as a surprise but not a lot of BioWare games are currently available on the PlayStation 4 console. Even though multiple BioWare games exist on PS3, considering their complexity, ports from previous gen consoles would be extremely difficult to make. Therefore, if you ever happen to receive a PSN gift card and wish to play BioWare RPGs on your PS4, here are three main options to consider.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age: Inquisition was released in 2014 and it was the first BioWare game to launch on the 8th generation consoles. Overall it was the third game in the series, further elaborating upon the fictional universe established by its predecessors – Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2. The fantasy RPG once again takes place in on a southern part of a fictional, medieval-themed Thedas continent.

Player in some sense assumes the role of a messianic figure who tries to peacefully resolve a civil war devasting the land. The story also involves the Inquisition – an organization dedicated to restoring order if Thedas ever fell into chaos and sealing the interdimensional Breach that allows demons to invade the continent. The game offers a staggering 90-hour single-player campaign with breathtaking environments realized through the Frostbite engine: swamps, deserts, castles, and beautiful forests. Along with that, there’s co-op multiplayer mode with an entirely different character!

Mass Effect: Andromeda

A separate multiplayer co-op in BioWare RPGs was introduced with Mass Effect 3 back in 2012 and while the game is not available on the PS4, you can easily acquire and enjoy its follow up – Mass Effect: Andromeda. The good thing is that ME: Andromeda is very newcomer friendly as in some way it can be considered a reboot of the series. This is because the original Mass Effect trilogy took place on the Milky Way galaxy while the fourth installment takes players to its closest intergalactic neighbor, just as the name of the game implies.

The story of Mass Effect: Andromeda is not a direct sequel to the ME trilogy, but the games share the same sci-fi universe. In the year 2185 (between the events of ME2 and ME3) a group of colonists known as the Andromeda Initiative leave the Milky Way. Even with faster than light drives they take 634 years to reach the destination – the Heleus star cluster in the Andromeda galaxy. You’ll play as a pathfinder – a mixture between soldier and scientist tasked with finding humanity a new planet to live on. Prepare to explore different star systems, ride vehicles on uncharted planets and participate in dynamic third-person shooter combat that comes together with a fluid class system.

Anthem

The latest BioWare game is a sci-fi action MMO very reminiscent both to Mass Effect games as well as Bungie’s Destiny 2 (a game that’s also available on PlayStation 4). This cooperative, squad-based third-person shooter uses the Frostbite that empowers not only the most recent BioWare games, but also other multiple gaming titles published by Electronic Arts. One of the most notable examples would be the Battlefield series, the biggest competitor of Call of Duty. Once again, the Frostbite truly shines bringing the world of Anthem to life.

This game is set on a beautiful and yet very dangerous fictional planet. This place is inhabited both by humans and also by various different creatures. Mankind is forced to reside in walled cities that protect the regular population from outside dangers, but players assume the role of brave mercenaries who wear technologically advanced armor suits known as Javelins. These suits can fly and they come in four different specializations, each of which represents four different classes. The cities in game serve as a social hub zone, very much like Destiny 2’s Tower, while the outside world is where the PvE action takes place.

Consider a PlayStation 4 gift card!

While the amount of content in BioWare games is extremely large, there are reasons to consider purchasing a PSN gift card if you plan to play them. Keep in mind that you can find cheap PS4 gift cards at the Eneba game store! Prices of gift cards are not fixed, they can shift over time, so you can often increase your PlayStation Network account funds cheaper, in turn saving quite a lot as you are buying DLC for Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect: Andromeda or a variety of content that’s available for the players of Anthem – different skins included. In the end, you can use a PSN gift card as a present to your friend for any occasion and have them join you on Anthem or other PS4 multiplayer games that you enjoy.
