The iconic Chinese furniture store, QuanU, in Asia is set to launch its first location in Canada this month at the Kennedy Commons Plaza in the Toronto area.

“QuanU is based in China and it was founded in 1986. It has 35 years of history. We entered Canada about a year ago and now we’re having our first physical store in the Greater Toronto Area on July 25,” said Ray Deng, Marketing and Planning Manager for QuanU Furniture Canada.

“QuanU is the biggest and the most famous furniture store in China and Asia, and now we are landing in Toronto, GTA.”

THE ORIGINAL QUANU EXPANSION PLANS WERE INTERRUPTED BY COVID-19

Deng said the original plan was to open three stores but that has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The company hopes to open a second store by the end of this year.

Brokerage Oberfeld Snowcap is handling the real estate selection under the direction of Elaine Heng.

“By the end of next year, 2021, we should have roughly 10 to 15 stores but that will depend on the situation. I don’t have a crystal ball with me and I don’t know how the COVID-19 situation will be for the end of this year or early next year. I have no idea. But that’s our original plan,” said Deng.

“That will be across Canada. We had original plans for Vancouver as the second store and then Ottawa. Now due to the COVID situation we are looking at downtown Toronto to be the second store for us.

“I am very confident that it will be one of the key furniture retailers in Canada soon.”

Deng said the retailer is known for offering high quality furniture at affordable prices.

“QuanU is the number one and the biggest furniture manufacturer in China and it has like more than 5,000 stores in China,” said Deng.

“And here now in Canada reputation is one of the key things we have. We have very dynamic products and we have quite a contemporary design.”

Charles Lee, Vice-President of Operations for QuanU Canada, said QuanU has more than 50 series of furniture lines.

“And the series covers all ages. Young, middle age and old people. Our refresh rates for the new products is very quick. Like every quarter we have new products come out. There will be lots of new products come out very often.”
