*****UPDATE: This store opens on August 15th, 2013*****

La Maison Simons continues its Canadian store expansion with a 9th location opening mid-August at Montreal's Les Galeries d'Anjou. It will be the second-largest store in the chain after its 118,000 square foot West Edmonton Mall location.

The 115,000 square foot d'Anjou Simons will be two floors and will include a similar openness and art installations as its award-winning West Edmonton Mall store. Artist Rachel Denny's knit animal heads, for example, were a hit at the Edmonton store. Simons won't say what other artists will be featured in the d'Anjou store but we can expect something unique and innovative. Simons insists that each of its store interiors be unique and it spends a fortune doing so.

An interesting addition to the d'Anjou store will be a restaurant concept called Soupesoup. The concept was developed by Caroline Dumas, who has six Montreal restaurants and is the author of a cookbook. Her food is known for being fresh, simple, and inspired by home cooking.

Simons is in the process of a Canada-wide expansion that could see new stores open in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg and Toronto, among other cities. Simons will open its first Ottawa store in 2015 at the Rideau Shopping Centre and could open a second Ottawa-area location in Gatineau. It opened its West Edmonton Edmonton location in October of 2012. It is currently negotiating space for two Toronto locations in space formerly occupied by Sears stores.
